STYLE
It has become obvious to me of late that people have no idea about style. Wether they have openly admitted that it makes no sense to them, or I have observed them in the street and wondered about their thought path that morning, it makes no sense to me. Style, creating outfits, knowing what pieces go with what - it all just seems like a no brainer. But then again people think Maths is a no brainer, and to me that makes no sense.
So seems as though I am a regular in the area of dressing and have studied many Vogue magazines (and I really need to get progressing on some of my fashion assignments) I have put together three things that I think are key to piecing together your outfits.
Before I start I would like to mention that I do not think I am the greatest, most fashionable fashionista this side of Christine Centenera (I am not that great at anything really, except maybe folding fitted sheets. I really am very good at that), I don't think I am some kind of model or saying that you are not already a sassy minx, it's just some basic shizz that we should all be down with.
There are no Rules!
That just makes no sense right! But I have never really followed any kind of rules with fashion. Think Carrie Bradshaw. That lady screamed style, but never considered the 'rules' (this could also be the unlimited access to high end ready-to-wear). But that can really only work if you don't miss the finer details (Does you look completely ridiculous? Are you to baggy on top and bottom? Are the lengths right?) Back in reality land with our regular wardrobe, for example double denim, or the Canadian Tuxedo, has always been a no-no. Personally I think it's great (but I am not talking Britney and JT).

The key to double denim is the colour. I generally wouldn't do the same colour together as it might make you look, well silly. A light coloured chambray shirt is the perfect addition to your wardrobe. Pair it with your jeans or denim cut offs and whoa-la! Outfit. (Side note: Boots are always a good finish to DD)
Double Denim done right
One Teaspoon shorts (my favourite item to add in my DD combo)
The Fit
Too small, too big, too short, too long, too baggy, too tight - this can completely ruin your look. The key to looking chic is having clothes that fit (there is a reason why Tailored Suits look so good).
There is nothing worse than looking like you have squeezed into something and have rolls and squished bits everywhere. The same can happen with anything too big. It can often make you look bigger than you are and again, be very unflattering. You can still wear that tight looking bodycon dress, but get it in the size that fits, its much more attractive.
When it comes to the fit you should also consider lengths and your body type. For example I would love nothing more than to add a pair of SPELL Bells to my wardrobe, but I know that I am just too short. This also happens with lengths that go below my knees. it can make me look even shorter and stumpier. But, depending on the style and whats happening with the rest of your outfit, it can often be elongated with a pair of heels.
So, make sure your pieces fit and suit your body type. Done.
Always consider lengths and fit with your body type
A tight dress that fits!
Boobs and Short Hemlines
Ladies, do we really think this is what makes us attractive? If so I've definitely missed the boat with this. It's not fashion and it certainly doesn't scream style. It kind just means that you want us to see your boobs. And I'm not saying don't wear mini hemlines. But one of the most well known (but commonly forgotten?) rules is to do one or the other (legs or boobs).
The crop top is back and can be worn extremely well, but its one of those lines that can easily be crossed from summer babe to skanky, well you get the point. The easiest way to explain this one is with pictures below:
No.
It doesn't happen often, but I just can't get onboard with Carrie here. It looks a little cheap
I can't see this Louis Vuitton outfit being pulled of by us normal gals on the street
Crop tops that work (take note of the longer lengths on the bottom, that's what makes it work)
Some other factors that we all learn along the way that can help in developing our style:
What necklines suit us best
Colours that compliment our complexion
Accessories are the perfect was to be very expressive! (Think Sass and Bide jewellery or clutches)
The importance of good underwear and t-shirt bras!

RAW ENERGY SUPERFOOD BALLS
Today I did a little bit of baking. It's not new, I used to spend all my weekends cooking up a storm, but now I don't like my kitchen plus it's always much more inviting to be outside. But, today my treats were healthy (that is new!) - Raw Energy Superfood Balls, healthy, but also delicious because boys eat them all!
The recipe is from Lola Berry. The 20/20 diet cookbook is one of my favourites for gluten free/sugar free meals. Everything is quick, easy and most importantly tasty.
These balls have been getting around for a while and I have made them before, they are a good little snack to have around (while they last) instead of the more guilty options.
If something is this good, it's only fair to share it. Enjoy.

WINTER STYLE
Lets kick it off with a style board. We all know we have just hit Winter. Those of us who are lucky enough to live on the Sunshine Coast may be easily mistaken that we have just ticked over to Spring.
Below are a couple of wardrobe pieces which I find essential in the cooler months. One should never be without a good hat and an even better pair of boots. Over the years I have had many of boots, but my latest pair are really standing the test of time (winter-summer-back to winter) and they are of course, Senso. They are definitely worth the pennies, and despite what you think, I'm sure you deserve it!

Little Lady. Formally known as Heidi (Hai-dee). 27. A dreamer, fashion lover, creator, over thinker. Sometimes psychic reader.
I like to write. I have many ideas, struggles, thoughts and happy moments, so why not share them with you? We can talk fashion, life, style tips, love and anything that pops up in between.
You can read it, share it, bin it - it's up to you. I won't hold any grudges.
